Atraquest 900 WG Herbicide (Atrazine) ATRAQUEST Conquest Crop Protection

Description

Atraquest 900 WG Herbicide is a Group C (Group 5) pre-emergence and post-emergence herbicide containing 900 g/kg atrazine in a water-dispersible granule formulation, registered for broad-spectrum annual weed control in sorghum, maize, sweetcorn, sugarcane, TT canola, and a range of other listed crops. Registered by Conquest Crop Protection Pty Ltd, it targets annual grass and broadleaf weed species by inhibiting photosynthesis at photosystem II, preventing susceptible weeds from germinating or establishing during critical early crop growth stages.

Atraquest 900 WG suits pre-plant, pre-emergence, and post-emergence application, giving growers genuine timing flexibility across both dryland and irrigated systems. Furthermore, the water-dispersible granule formulation disperses quickly and cleanly in the spray tank with vigorous agitation, reducing dust exposure compared to wettable powder alternatives. As a result, it integrates efficiently into existing farm spray programmes and pairs with a wide range of herbicide tank mix partners.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is Atraquest 900 WG Herbicide used for?

A: Specifically, it controls a broad range of annual grass and broadleaf weeds in listed broadacre crops, including sorghum, maize, sweetcorn, sugarcane, TT canola, plantation forestry, and roadside situations. For the full crop and species list, refer to the Directions for Use table.

Q: Can Atraquest 900 WG be used post-emergence?

A: Yes. Apply post-emergence to seedling weeds no more than 1 cm high when the soil is moist, and rain or irrigation will follow. Additionally, add a non-ionic surfactant for post-emergence applications in sorghum, broom millet, and saccaline.

Q: What is the maximum atrazine application rate per year?

A: The maximum rate is the equivalent of 3 kg active ingredient atrazine per hectare per year in all crops except plantation forestry. Consequently, do not exceed this limit when combining pre- and post-emergence applications in the same season.

Q: Does Atraquest 900 WG require rainfall after application?

A: Yes. Ensure sufficient rain or irrigation thoroughly wets the soil through the weed root zone within 10 days of application. Delay in activation may result in reduced weed control.

Q: Is Atraquest 900 WG compatible with other herbicides?

A: Yes. It is compatible with glyphosate, ametryn, dicamba, Dual Gold, hexazinone, Conquest Explode 250, and Conquest Scorcher 250, among others. Always test mixtures prior to mixing commercial quantities, as water quality varies by location.

Directions Of Use

Click here for Atraquest 900 WG Herbicide directions for use.

Atraquest 900 WG Herbicide is mixed with clean water and applied through boom or aerial spray equipment at rates ranging from 270 g/ha to 8.8 kg/ha, depending on crop, soil type, weed spectrum, and application timing. For pre-plant and pre-emergence applications, fill the spray vat to no more than 25% full with clean water, then add the required amount of Atraquest 900 WG steadily with vigorous agitation. Maintain agitation throughout the entire mixing and spraying operation. For post-emergence applications, target weeds at the seedling stage, no more than 1 cm high, when the soil is moist and follow-up rain or irrigation is expected. Add a non-ionic surfactant for post-emergence applications in sorghum, broom millet, and saccaline; add 5.5 L/ha crop oil for maize and sweetcorn. Do not leave spray solution standing in the vat overnight. Aerial application requires 20 to 30 L/ha; ground application requires 50 to 100 L/ha with a minimum band width of 30 cm.

    Answered by the admin

Atraquest 900 WG Herbicide is not registered to control Giant Rat's Tail Grass (GRT). When applied to the soil, atrazine is absorbed by the roots of the target plants, which disrupts the photosynthesis process, ultimately leading to their death. Control over some perennial grasses can be achieved with atrazine, and it's important to note that the effectiveness of atrazine on perennial grasses can depend on several factors, such as the timing and method of application, the dosage, and the age and growth stage of the target plants. We are unaware of off-label trials of Atrazine on GRT.

Tips For Use

Restraints:

  • Do not apply to waterlogged soil.
  • Do not apply if heavy rains or storms likely to cause surface runoff are forecast within two days of application.
  • Do not irrigate to the point of runoff for at least two days after application.
  • Do not apply to any drainage line. Do not apply to areas susceptible to runoff where drainage results in rapid entry into waterways.
  • Do not use a knapsack sprayer for applications in Eucalypt and Pinus radiata plantations.
  • Do not apply to TT canola by aircraft. Apply only with a low boom sprayer with a 60 m buffer zone downwind of treated fields to natural or impounded lakes or dams, and a 20 m buffer zone for any well, sinkhole, or intermittent or perennial stream.
  • Do not enter treated areas without protective clothing until the spray has dried.

Soil Moisture:

  • This product requires rainfall or irrigation to move it down through the soil into the weed root zone to become effective.
  • Sufficient rain or irrigation to thoroughly wet the soil through the weed root zone must occur or be applied within 10 days of spraying.

Mixing Instructions:

  • Fill the vat no more than 25% full with clean water before adding Atraquest 900 WG.
  • Begin vigorous agitation before adding the product. Maintain agitation throughout mixing and spraying.
  • Add the required amount of Atraquest 900 WG steadily, not all at once. Allow vigorous bypass agitation to fully disperse the product before continuing to fill the vat.
  • Do not leave the spray solution standing in the vat overnight.

Compatibility:

  • Compatible with Adigor, ametryn, dicamba, Dual Gold, Gesapax Combi 500 SC, glyphosate, Conquest Explode 250, Hasten, hexazinone, and Conquest Scorcher 250.
  • Test all mixtures on a small scale before mixing commercial quantities, as water quality varies by location and other manufacturer formulations are beyond Conquest’s control.

Resistance Management:

  • Atraquest 900 WG is a Group C herbicide. Resistant weed biotypes may exist through natural genetic variability.
  • Do not use Group C herbicides in consecutive years.
  • Do not apply atrazine if the area received a triazine herbicide in the previous season.
  • The maximum rate is 3 kg active ingredient atrazine per hectare per year in all crops except plantation forestry. Do not exceed this limit.
  • Report any suspected resistance to Conquest Crop Protection Pty Ltd at (+61) 8 9347 0500 or [email protected].

Crop Rotation:

  • Do not plant crops other than those listed on the label for at least 6 months after applications up to 1.4 kg/ha, or for 18 months after applications of 1.4 to 3.3 kg/ha.

Protection of Crops, Native and Other Non-Target Plants:

  • Do not apply under weather conditions or from equipment that may cause spray drift onto nearby susceptible plants, crops, or pastures.
  • Do not apply the product, or drain or flush equipment, near desirable trees or plants, or in locations where the chemical may be washed into contact with their roots.

Protection of Wildlife, Fish, Crustaceans and the Environment:

  • Do not apply within 60 m of natural or impounded lakes or dams.
  • Do not use in channels or drains.
  • Do not contaminate streams, rivers, or waterways with the chemical or used containers. This product is very highly toxic to algae and aquatic macrophytes.

Storage and Disposal:

  • Store in the closed original container in a dry, cool, well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight.
  • This product is a Scheduled Poison. Observe all relevant regulations regarding sale, transport, and storage.
  • Shake bag contents into the spray tank until the bag is empty. Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on-site.
  • Puncture and bury empty containers in a local authority landfill. If no landfill is available, bury the container below 500 mm in a marked disposal pit, clear of waterways, desirable vegetation, and tree roots. Do not burn empty containers or product.

Safety Directions:

  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Do not inhale dust or spray mist.
  • When preparing and applying the spray, wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing), a washable hat, and elbow-length PVC gloves.
  • If using a hand-directed sprayer, additionally wear waterproof trousers and boots.
  • Wash hands, arms, and face thoroughly with soap and water after use and before eating, drinking, or smoking. Wash gloves and contaminated clothing after each day’s use.

First Aid:

  • If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or the Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131 126.
